BAföG and housing benefit
BAföG

The Federal Training Assistance Act, better known as "BAföG", is a state education assistance programme that benefits school pupils and people in further vocational training, as well as students in particular.

BAföG is granted half as an interest-free loan and half as a grant.

Housing benefit

Students who are not entitled to BAföG or have lost their entitlement or only receive a loan under BAföG are generally entitled to housing benefit.

KIT Heinrich Hertz-Gesellschaft
The Heinrich-Hertz-Gesellschaft (HHG) has been closely associated with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) since its foundation in 1966. Members of the Heinrich Hertz Society are leading figures from science, business, government, culture, the arts and the liberal professions in the Karlsruhe technology region. It promotes dialogue between representatives of these groups through its monthly events. It supports the next generation of academics at all Karlsruhe universities with scholarships and promotes the operation of the ‘Heinrich Hertz’ guest lecturer centre on the south campus.

The KIT-Stiftung promotes sustainable research, teaching and academic life at KIT.

Solar- und Umweltverein Fridericiana e.V. (solarfri)
The Solar- und Umweltverein Fridericiana e.V. (solarfri) is a student university group at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. The purpose of the association is to promote solar energy and environmental protection, in particular ecological and sustainable behavior and ways of thinking in the student and academic context. To this end, the association uses income from the operation of the PV system on the roof of the canteen on Adenauerring to finance student projects that pursue socially or ecologically sustainable goals.

The Studentische Kulturzentrum was founded in 1992 as a non-profit limited company. The founding shareholders - and the current ones - were the Karlsruher Studentendienst e. V., the Studentenwerk Karlsruhe AöR and the University of Karlsruhe.
