Description

The professorship is embedded in the research and teaching activities of the Institute of Experimental Particle Physics (ETP) at KIT, the KIT Center for Elementary Particle and Astroparticle Physics (KCETA), and the KIT-Department of Physics.

The professor is expected to represent experimental particle physics in its full breadth and will particularly strengthen detector development for high-energy physics experiments. The candidate will assume a leading role in the conception, further development, operation, and performance optimization of modern particle detector systems.

The research profile should demonstrate expertise in innovative detector technologies for high-energy physics. Active participation and scientific leadership in ongoing and future international detector collaborations are expected.

The professorship is expected to contribute to and further strengthen KIT’s involvement in major high-energy physics experiments and to actively participate in the design and preparation of next-generation detector systems. Close, interdisciplinary collaboration within KIT, in particular within the framework of KCETA and the associated Doctoral School KSETA and the KIT-Center for Health Technologies, as well as the transfer of technologies to other fields, is explicitly encouraged.

You will perform university duties with a teaching obligation of 9 hours a week per semester.

Persönliche Qualifikation

A completed doctorate (PhD) preferrentially in physics, outstanding, internationally visible scientific achievements in experimental particle physics, particularly in detector instrumentation, as well as pedagogical aptitude are required.

The candidate should demonstrate experience in supervising students and early-career researchers and show a strong commitment to high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Employment is subject to Article 14(2) of the KIT Act in conjunction with Article 47 of the Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg (LHG).
