This work lies at the intersection of polymer chemistry and sustainability. The project focuses on the upcycling of superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) obtained from used diapers, incontinence products, and feminine hygiene products.

Our approach consists of two main steps:

1. Degradation and solubilization of SAPs through UV irradiation.
2. Chemical modification of the degraded material, followed by the formulation of functional materials such as 3D printing inks, adhesives, and other advanced products.

The resulting materials will be characterized with respect to their mechanical properties, ionic conductivity, and chemical structure.
