ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking a Flight Software Engineering Intern to support the development of mission-critical embedded software for the Phoenix2 spacecraft.
You will work closely with experienced flight software and hardware engineers to help implement, test, and document real-time software for spacecraft subsystems.
Key responsibilities
- You will assist in designing and implementing flight software modules for Phoenix2 subsystems.
- You will support development of real-time embedded code following ECSS and CCSDS guidelines.
- You will collaborate with hardware engineers to understand subsystem behaviour and integration needs.
- You will help troubleshoot software and hardware-related issues under guidance from senior engineers.
- You will contribute to documentation for reproducibility, traceability, and long-term maintainability.
- You will participate in code reviews, testing activities, and integration sessions.
Profile required
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic experience with C/C++ or Python.
- Interest in embedded systems, realtime software, or aerospace applications.
- Familiarity with Linux development environments and scripting.
- Willingness to learn ECSS standards, CCSDS protocols, and spacecraft software practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to RTOS concepts or embedded development.
- Interest in telecommand/telemetry systems or space communication protocols.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, or structured documentation tools.
- Experience working in multicultural or interdisciplinary teams.
